I've read somewhere, not sure if it's true or not, that Aquarius is the "last" aeon of the 12, and that a new 24,000 year cycle will begin approximately 4,000 AD.
If that's the case, it's quite possible the next 2,000 years, or maybe even 4k or 6k years, could continue to be very dark, before the "sun rises" so to speak on civilization, deeper into the next great cycle.
